Problem: Not enough storage in the kitchen. Cabinets needed repairs.

First we investigated the idea of adding additional cabinets above the existing kitchen.

This could have been a great solution. But, when we started a cost-to-benefit analysis of repairing the existing cabinets and adding the additional storage it just was not the best choice in this case. It was more cost-effective to just replace the cabinets.

The homeowner started looking at cabinets. After the issues with her old particle board cabinets, she really insisted on wood. After considering Thomasville Cabinetry, Kraftmaid cabinets, American Woodmark, Premier Cabinetry, Mill's Pride, Cross Creek and other choices, the homeowner selected Cardell.

We designed a new layout for the kitchen. We took the cabinets all the way to the ceiling for additional storage. Earlier she had been told she could not fit a Lazy Susan into the kitchen, but by using a smaller sink base and adjusting the plumbing, we were able to accommodate the Lazy Susan and a double-hinged corner cabinet on the wall above it.

By removing the pantry, which the homeowner found awkward and inconvenient, and building in the wine fridge, we were able to add more counter space.
